everyone on this site talking about how you shouldn’t criticize democratic candidates because of “negativity” or whatever desperately needs an explanation of what politicians are for bc if I see that idiotic “Democrats are not clay pigeons” post again I’m going to actually die

if you’re voting for a politician, it should PROBABLY be because they:

1. actively support good policies,
2. are not known to be tremendous fucking dirtbags, and
3. ideally have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning
   

And the thing is, the same people who whine incessantly about how you’re “divisive” for pointing out that (1) isn’t fulfilled by some nerd who won’t shut up about charter schools and training The Yokels to code? or that (2) maybe disqualifies the woman who orchestrated a coup and basically INVENTED the “obama secret Muslim” shit, or a guy who publically attacked a victim of sexual assault? They’re often the same people who uncritically reblog shit about people being idiots for voting third party bc of point (3).

A candidate who wins, only to fuck you over the instant they get into power, is not particularly inspiring or valuable. And I’m not even against voting for the “lesser of two evils,” if it’s my only option; rather, I want to minimize how evil that option is.

saying it’s bad to criticize democrats is, uh, not going to do that, lol. it’s just going to give us Blue Dog assholes who have a big parade over beating a Republican, only to give the rubber stamp to 99% of the godawful policies the right spews out regardless.
